A man has died after he is believed to have been hit by a London Underground train when he jumped onto the tracks to save his brother.

The 35-year-old from Manchester leapt onto the tracks of the Northern Line at Old Street station last night to get to his brother, 32, after he fell following a night out.
He suffered severe head injuries while trying to pull his younger brother onto the platform after he is believed to have dropped his wallet or phone.

Witness Josie Griffiths told the Standard: ‘One man was under the tube but responding. People were crying, it was such an horrific scene.
‘It is so terrible to hear that someone has died – the man under the train was obviously seriously injured.
