The Minister of  State for Defence, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd), yesterday, commended Abia electorate for coming out en masse to vote for all Peoples Democratic Party’s candidates in last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

He described  it as a show  of support and reciprocity to the PDP’s good governance of President  Goodluck Jonathan, whom they gave almost 100 per cent of accredited votes.

In a statement in Umuahia, Col. Akobundu, while commending the  winners of Saturday’s poll, particularly, Gov. T.A. Orji, senator-elect   (Abia Central), Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe Senator-elect (Abia South) and Chief Moa Ohuabunwa, Senator-elect (Abia North)   and other victorious PDP candidates for their deserved victory, believed that   Abia electorate would also come out in their larger numbers on Saturday, April 11, 2015, to complete what they  started on Saturday, March 28, 2015 by unanimously voting all candidates of the PDP.

The statement read:  “I wish to thank the Abia electorate for coming out in their large numbers to vote for candidates of our party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  in last Saturday, March 28, 2015 Presidential and National Assembly.

“I also wish to commend you, our dear Abia electorate, for your good conduct during the polls which have been adjudged as the most peaceful   and freest in the history of the state. The manner by which you conducted yourself even in the face of obvious challenges occasioned by the difficulties of the Card Reader technology is heart-warming.

“You displayed rare courage, resilience, zeal, commitment to reciprocate the PDP’s good governance of President Goodluck Jonathan despite threats and intimidation by the opposition.

“We will not disappoint you but will remain committed in providing you more dividends of democracy.”
