Going green ... Rabboni Centre Ministries members eating grass as part of their spiritual practice in Ga-Rankuwa, South Africa.
HOW far would you go for your religion?
Eating grass is a strange one to stomach but that’s exactly what members of a Christian ministry in South Africa are doing.
For patrons of the Rabboni Centre Ministries in Ga-Rankuwa grazing on turf is a key part of their spiritual practice.
Pastor
Lesego Daniel, who founded the ministry in November 2002, firmly
believes that eating grass brings worshippers “closer to God”.

Some members of the congregation even claim that it has cured them of illness, including sore throats and strokes.
The
pastor, whose first name translates to “blessing”, says he uses his
services to lead his congregation on a spiritual journey from hell to
heaven.
“A shepherd leads, and I want to lead people to a place
they’ve never been,” Pastor Lesago tells his congregation, before
imploring them to “Go and eat!”
Unusual habit ... grazing on grass is a key part of the spiritual practice at Rabboni.
“If Jesus turned water into wine, we are turning the grass into spaghetti mince,” he added.
The
group’s unusual eating habits have attracted controversy online but
members of the ministry have no plans to stop the practice.
