THE death toll from a petrol tanker truck explosion in southern
Mexico has risen to 16 after two more victims died of burn injuries at
hospitals.
Tanker blast
THE explosion occurred in the Gulf coast state of Tabasco on March 26 when villagers tried to take petrol from a tanker truck that had crashed.
The Tabasco state Health Department said in its Twitter account that 12 patients remain hospitalised in Tabasco and three others are being treated at a burn centre in Galveston, Texas. State officials are still investigating what ignited the petrol.
Prosecutors say inhabitants broke through a police perimeter and then chased off firefighters so they could steal the petrol.
