FORMER Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan on his statesmanly position in the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.

He wondered if the peace being enjoyed today would have been possible if the results were in favour of Jonathan.

“I thank God almighty for being a Nigerian that the prophecies of doom by the Americans and others had planned did not come to pass.”

“I wish to congratulate our President, Dr. Jonathan, for his statesmanly passion in handling the results of this election.

“I recall that in a recent interview, I said that Nigeria needs Jonathan more than Jonathan needs Nigeria. I said that Jonathan loved this country so much that he would not sit tight and will not jeopardize our democracy.

“I said that if worst came to worst, he would quietly pack his things and go back to his humble beginning in Otueke. This he has done. But I wonder, if the situation was reversed, whether we could have enjoyed this peaceful political atmosphere and the stability that we are celebrating now. For me, the real winner and hero of the election is Jonathan.

“This is not the occasion to recount the many success he got in his short period but let me add that only history will judge what a great president he has been. We will continue to pray for this great country that this milestone achievement of Jonathan will ensure.

“I want to congratulate the South-South and the Ijaw nation for the mature and exemplary role that we have demonstrated in the event of the past week. For the sake of our beloved son and Nigeria let’s remain law abiding.”
