ANTP youths float new movement

Some youths in the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioner (ANTP) have branched out by putting in place a new movement called ‘The Movie Ambassador’ (TMA)

TMA which will remain an arm of their parent body met last week to discuss some issues affecting the Yoruba movie industry in general.
Their deliberation included ways of making the film industry more professional and attractive to earn respect among movie buffs all over the world.

The group also highlighted some criteria for those intending to join the movement.
Conditions laid down are that the age bracket of members must fall within 16-45 years, they  must be members of ANTP and can speak Yoruba language fluently and English language (optional).

Also, members must have documentary evidence that they are in any practice of film making in the last five years to include evidence of levies paid or appearance or credit evidence in a movie within this period or beyond and must be formally trained (film) with minimum of six months certificate in chosen field with the exception of actors or must be in an ongoing film studies in a recognised movie institution or be ready to pursue one in the next 12 months.

One of the members of the newly formed group who is also spearheading the move,Saidi Balogun said that TMA was not out to disturb the already existing peace in ANTP but rather to chart a new way with which stakeholders in the association, especially the elderly would reap the fruits of the sweats before they die.

“It is about setting standards for ourselves in the association and doing things in the right perspective. We have suffered too long because our house was not in shape.
We have decided to set the records straight and move forward for the sake of our members,” he said
