Robson, who scored twice in one of his great performances in a red shirt, ended the game being chaired off shoulder-high after thousands of fans invaded the field at the end.
United have only overturned a 2-0 first leg deficit on two other occasions. They are:
1956-57 European Cup v Athletic Bilbao - lost 5-3, won 3-0 - won 6-5 on aggregate.
1963-64 Cup Winners’ Cup v Spurs - lost 2-0, won 4-1 - won 4-3 on aggregate.
