Tottenham’s Sandro unveils horror beard against Dnipro

Sandro’s beard is certainly an eye-catcher

We’ve seen some abysmal attempts at facial hair among footballers this season, but nothing can possibly come close to the effort Tottenham’s Sandro had on show against Dnipro.

It may not have been the most enthralling first half in tonight’s Europa League last 32 second leg, but Sandro’s intriguing new braided beard – held in place with a blue hairband – certainly caught the eye.

And when the Tottenham man was booked towards the end of the half, fans remained unsure whether it was for a high-footed tackle or because the referee had finally spotted the offending beard.
It really does need to be seen to be believed.

However, the facial faux-pas didn’t appear to hinder Sandro’s nor Tottenham’s second-half comeback, recovering from a quick Dnipro goal after the break to win 3-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate, with a goal from Christian Eriksen and an Emmanuel Adebayor brace.
