Arsenal 'to create new team called LA Gunners'Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has big plans

Arsenal chief Stan Kroenke is reportedly set to use his ownership of the club to create a new American sister team – called the LA Gunners.

Kroenke, who owns a controlling stake in Arsenal, already heads up a number of sports franchises, including MLS club Colorado Rapids.

However, according to the Sun, the businessman is planning on buying a new MLS licence which will enable him to add a second team to the league.

The plans are in their infancy, but reports suggest that the new team would be based in Los Angeles and would be modelled on Arsenal.

Indeed, the club would enjoy a partnership with their north London sister team, which would see them swap players and training methods.

Kroenke is also said to have given the green light to the team being named ‘LA Gunners’ – as homage to Arsene Wenger’s side.

More details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks, with Kroenke still looking into how to finance the project.
