Bundesliga club use helicopter as ‘giant hair dryer’ to clear waterlogged pitch

German club uses helicopter to dry waterlogged pitchEintracht Braunschweig got the rescue helicopter to dry their pitch

German outfit Eintracht Braunschweig found an innovative way of drying their pitch after a deluge of rain at the club’s home ground.

Instead of the more traditional methods of garden tools or even a steam roller to sort out the soaked turf, the Bundesliga club have been accused of using a helicopter as a giant ‘hair dryer’ to blow the water onto the touchlines.

The news emerged this week as part of a probe into corruption at the world’s second largest automobile club, ADAC, which owns the emergency aircraft.

An ADAC director, who is a fan of the club, is said to have ordered pilots to hover over relegation-threatened Braunschweig’s turf.

Not exactly an emergency…
