CCTV footage released of moment Asperger sufferer was killed with a single punch

This is the moment a man with Asperger Syndrome was knocked to the ground with a single punch that would later prove fatal.

Andrew Young, 40, can be seen on CCTV telling Victor Ibitoye it is dangerous to ride his bike on the pavement in Charminster, Bournemouth.

Moments after Ibitoye left, his 20-year-old friend Lewis Gill walked up to Mr Young and struck him in the face.

Mr Young fell backwards and smashed his head on the road as a result. He died the next day from head injuries.

Lewis Gill has been jailed for four-and-a-half years
Gill was given a four-and-a-half year prison sentence last Friday after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but Mr Young’s mother described the punishment as inadequate.

‘The sentence is an absolute joke. I’m a committed Christian but I think that if someone takes a life they should be prepared to forfeit their own,’ said Pamela Young.

Gill’s barrister Steven Perian had said his client was responding to a racist remark from Mr Young when he hit him.
The incident took place last year on November 6.
