Armed gang steal watches worth £500k in West End raid The shattered glass case in Watches of Switzerland following the theft

Armed thieves have taken off with £500,000 worth of designer watches during a robbery on one of the busiest streets in London at rush hour.


Three men – one with a handgun and the other two with hammers – threatened staff at the Watches of Switzerland store on Oxford Street at 5.33pm on Thursday, police said.

The looters destroyed a glass cabinet and grabbed a number watches worth an estimated half a million pounds before running away.

They are believed to have fled down Duke Street towards Grosvenor Square.
No shots were fired and nobody was injured, with officers now appealing for the public’s help in tracing the whereabouts of the assailants.

The suspects were described as all wearing dark clothing, with hooded tops and had their faces covered.

DCI Paul Johnson said: ‘I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of this robbery to come forward and speak to police.’
