CARDIFF failed to kick on from an impressive first half showing to share the spoils with Aston Villa.
The Bluebirds had the better of the first half, hitting the
woodwork twice in quick succession before Wilfried Zaha had a goal
disallowed for offside.
Fraizer Campbell was fed by Zaha and his effort was parried onto the post by Villa keeper Brad Guzan but seconds later the upright was rattled again.
Craig Noone picked the ball up on the right hand side, drove infield and his deflected strike looped over Guzan and bounced clear off the top of the bar.
Zaha had the ball in the net following a corner after 35 minutes but he wasn't celebrating for long as the on-loan Manchester United winger was clearly offside following the knock down.
Villa started the second half in a much sprightlier fashion.
Christian Benteke got in behind the home defence twice early on but could't give his team the advantage.
Leandro Bacuna slashed a shot across David Marshall's goal but neither side could find a way through.
Marshall was called upon prevent Fabian Delph's deflected shot before Gabriel Agbonlahor took an age to get his shot away and Kevin Theophile-Catherine was able to get back and get the block in.
Agbonlahor was at full stretch and Marshall pulled off a superb stage in the dying seconds to share the spoils as Cadriff hung on.
