TWO hundred people were evacuated from a blaze in an apartment block in the French ski resort town of Val D’Isere, near the Italian border.

Three people were unaccounted for after the fire quickly ripped through the building, destroying the roof, BBC is reporting.

One woman was reported as “gravely injured” after jumping from the sixth storey of the building to escape the flames.

It is not yet know what caused the fire in the Les Jardins de la Balme apartments. A nearby primary school was also evacuated as a safety precaution.
A local official told AFP that three people were unaccounted for.

“We don’t know if they were on the ninth floor or removed,” she said.
An image posted on Twitter showed warm clothing laid out, presumably volunteered by members of the community for people affected by the incident
