WORLD CUP DREAM: Garcia wants a run in the City side to boost his Spain chances

Spanish international Garcia has struggled to woo the fans since joining City from Benfica in 2012 for £16m.

Supporters have targeted him during games and Garcia knows he still needs to convince them of his talents.

But the midfielder could get the ideal chance this weekend when Manuel Pellegrini’s men travel to Wembley to take on Sunderland in the first domestic cup final of the season.

“I know it won’t be easy to get into the Spain squad, but I will try my best and keep believing it’s possible.
“Spain have an incredible midfield pool to choose from and they have done for the past four or five years so it is very difficult if you are a midfielder.

“I think the only way would be if I was in the City team playing a lot and playing well - and then maybe I’d get my chance. We’ll have to wait and see on that one.”

City can still land an historic quadruple this season but Garcia admits all their hard work will count for nothing if they don’t fulfil their potential.

The former Real Madrid star added: “This is the most important part of the season because things are coming to a head and we need to play better than ever.

“We have had a great season so far but as Vincent Kompany says, we’ve won nothing and if we end it with no trophies, all the hard work and goals we’ve scored will be forgotten and the season would mean nothing.”
