LUIS SUAREZ fears a World Cup KO.
“The moment to think about the national team will arrive later.”
Footballer of the Year contender Suarez is tipped to be one of the stars of the World Cup after a sensational season with Liverpool.
He has scored 23 goals to fire Liverpool into title contention.
But boss Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool aren’t a one man team.
The stats back that up with Suarez scoring just one of free-scorng Liverpool’s last 13 goals.
Rodgers said: “Luis is a world-class player, but I’m building something here that isn’t reliant upon one player.
“Other players have scored goals when Luis wasn’t in the team, or Daniel Sturridge wasn’t in the team.
“You don’t score the number of goals we do when you’re reliant upon one player. The team is the most important thing.”
And Rodgers warned his team will keep putting the pressure on their title rivals.
Fourth-placed Liverpool are four points behind leaders Chelsea
Rodgers said: “We’re going to keep pushing. We’ve shown enough times we’re a very good side.
“We’re chasing, other teams are still ahead of us and we need some of them to drop points.
“We still have Man City and Chelsea to play at home. We’ll take it game by game.”
Liverpool talisman Suarez admits he is panicking about picking up an injury that will wreck his World Cup dreams this summer.
England
winger Theo Walcott and Colombian striker Radamel Falcao have already
seen their hopes of starring in Brazil shattered by serious knee
injuries.
Uruguay hitman Suarez is heading for a June 19 group stage showdown with England in Brazil.
But he said: “The truth is that I am scared of what happened to Falcao and Walcott.
“But you live in the present and you always give your best for your club - you can’t be thinking about that all the time.
“It is a unique opportunity and we all want to be there, but I prefer to focus my mind on the English league.
