A DOG shelter has revealed their latest resident was dumped by its owner - because it looked so ugly.
Staff at the animal home have cared for the mutt after it was left in a box beside a busy road in freezing cold temperatures.
A driver found the pooch and took her to a police station.
A note from the owner explained they were abandoning 'Susi' because of her horror looks.
She had destroyed much of her fur with continued scratching, due to an infestation of fleas.
"She was absolutely covered in fleas and she was also was smeared
in blood having been bitten countless times by the fleas," said Sabine
Oelschläger, director of the German animal shelter.
"The owner had left a note explaining that the dog was simply too ugly to keep, and asking them to find a new home for her."
Most of the pooch's hair from her back legs and rear body had already been lost.
The rest was ragged and dishevelled.
