British police believe they may be behind a string of burglaries
around that time at the Ocean Club complex at Praia da Luz on the
Algarve.
Maddie, aged just three when she disappeared from her bed in May 2007, may have disturbed them.
Scotland Yard now want to search the three suspects’ homes and probe their bank accounts.
Local reports say the holiday complex had around 130 Portuguese employees and 30 British staff when the tot went missing.
