A SCHOOL governor sparked fury after he took his own child out of class to fly off on a sunshine family holiday.
Snaps of him on holiday in July last year showed him enjoying afternoon naps and relaxing in a pool.
One parent branded him an “absolute disgrace”. When he returned to the UK with wife Emma, 33, they were both slapped with a £60 fine by their local education authority. They admitted a charge of failing to ensure a child attended school.
Last night he was facing disciplinary action at the school.
Mr Lawton said he had gone to Spain because a pal had been diagnosed with cancer.
Richard Hedge, head- master at Macclesfield Academy, said they would be meeting with Mr Lawton to discuss his actions.
Paul Lawton, 42, let his 13-year-old daughter skip school for 11 days for a trip to Spain’s Costa Del Sol.
The dad-of-five claimed he could not afford to go away in the summer.
And
he boasted he had saved £5,000 by jetting off during term time, despite
helping the school promote policy on dealing with truants. Parents at
Macclesfield Academy, Cheshire, were fuming.
