Boxing coach targets Commonwealth Games gold

One of Nigeria’s boxing coaches preparing the team for the Youth Games in China and Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Adura Olalehin, has said his target with the team is to win gold medals at the events.

Olalehin,  a   silver medalist at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, said he came home from his base in America to work with the national coaches in order to lead the team to success.
He said, “We are going for gold and nothing else. The qualifier for the Youth Games is in Botswana and the games proper is in China. I am going to Scotland for gold and that’s why I am training my boxers together to bring the gold back to me.”

He urged the amateur boxers to troop to the National Stadium in Lagos to take part in the open camp which started on Tuesday.
“I have foreign boxers like Efetubo and the lady, Agu, who went to the last Olympics. Anybody can be selected as long as he or she is good,” Oladehin said.
