No Mercy! Pablo Zabaleta wants a ruthless display from Manchester City against West Ham

PABLO ZABALETA insists West Ham will be shown no mercy tonight.

Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester CityZabaleta says City must put their 6-0 aggregate lead to one side and focus on the second-leg at Upton Park

Manchester City travel to Upton Park with an almost unassailable 6-0 lead ahead of the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg.

The return leg should be nothing more than a formality for Manuel Pellegrini’s men after destroying the Hammers on home soil.
But Zabaleta has warned Sam Allardyce’s men not to expect City to ease up and wants to inflict more pain on his struggling side.

The Argentine star said: “It doesn’t matter about the first leg.
“We have to go into that game thinking it’s a new game - even though we have six goals.
“We need to try and win it - like we are doing in other games at the moment. We are winning games and working hard.

“West Ham are in a tough moment, they are at home and will want to win it. So we need to take it seriously and we will.”
Meanwhile, Pellegrini insists he still has faith in forgotten man Stevan Jovetic.

Stevan Jovetic, Manchester City Jovetic has endured a slow start to life at City with injury problems curtailing the Montenegrin's chances to impress

The Montenegro striker has been plagued by a succession of problems since his £22m summer switch from Fiorentina.
But Pellegrini is hoping Jovetic can now put the niggling injuries and sickness behind him to play a role in City’s push for an unprecedented four trophies this season.
Jovetic could get his first taste of action since October at Upton Park.

And Pellegrini said: “It’s an important chance for him to come back to play, but I don’t think he’ll be able to play from the beginning or play 90 minutes.
“He can really start playing often in the next three months and I think he can be the player we hoped he would be.

“We are trying every day to give him trust so that his bad luck will finish soon.
“It’s very important that he comes back ambitious and hungry to be an important player here at Manchester City.
Adrian, West Ham Hammers keeper Adrian shipped six at the Etihad as West Ham were brushed aside by a rampant City

“Of course he has been frustrated. He came here with the illusion of playing in the Premier League.
“He was a very important player in Italy for Fiorentina and I still believe he will be a very important player for us.

“It’s very difficult to be happy when you’re not playing and you have so many injuries, but he’s conscious that he will be 100 per cent fit and demonstrate why he’s here.”
