THIS is the shocking moment an armed robber creeps up behind a teenage girl at a cashpoint before threatening her with a knife.
The 18-year-old girl was withdrawing cash from a Lloyds TSB in
South Molton, Devon, as a menacing hooded figure followed her into the
foyer.
As she turns CCTV footage shows the thug calmly producing a six-inch blade before gesturing at the cash machine.
The terrified girl pleads with the man to put the weapon away as she hurries to withdraw £100 and hand it over before the unknown robber flees the scene.
Police are now appealing for information about the incident which occurred at 8:52pm on Friday 17 January.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "The victim was standing in the foyer of the bank about to withdraw cash from the cash machine when an unknown man approached her.
"He was holding a knife and demanded that she withdrew £100. She complied with his demands and dreew out the cash and gave it to him.
"He asked her to wait in the foyer for two minutes before leaving and he then made off."
While the victim escaped unharmed, police revealed she was "shaken up" by the distressing incident.
The suspect is described as white, in his early 20s, around 6ft
tall, of scrawny build with dark brown hair, dark eyes and dark
eyebrows.
The knifeman was wearing a black and white striped raincoat with the hood up and a black scarf across his nose and mask.
His weapon has been described as a black-handled kitchen knife with a serrated blade.
Detective Constable Daryl Marvelly, of Barnstaple CID, added: "We would like to speak to anyone who may know the man shown in the images or may have witnessed the incident."
