Wayne Rooney is set to sign up to the future at United
The 28-year-old, who currently earns about £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford, has been subject of intense speculation surrounding his future for weeks.
But constant interest from Chelsea, Rooney is ready to sign up for the future at United, with a new deal that will see him play out his peak years with the Red Devils.
Moyes has been keen to tie Rooney down to the future
According to the Telegraph, the new deal was verbally agreed this week – and further negotiations will take place in the next few days to iron out minor details.
Rooney’s current contract still has 18 months left to run, but United were not willing to allow such a sought after player to enter the final year of his deal.
As well as signing up Rooney to a new deal, United are also keen on offering extensions to several other key stars – including Nemanja Vidic.
